Harsha wins Silver Medal in the National Junior Chess Championship 2014
Harsha Bharathakoti had won Silver Medal in the 44th National Junior (U-19) Chess Championship 2014 held from 10th to 18th July, 2014 at Pune, Maharashtra.
Harsha is a beloved student of Senior Chess Coach Mr. Rama Raju.

Kushagra Mohan won Silver Medal in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2014
Kushagra Mohan (Candidate Master), student of 5th Class, Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, had won Silver Medal in Under 10 Standard Open Category in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2014 held in Tashkent in Uzbekistan from 20th to 29th June, 2014.
Priyanka Nutakki has won Rapid Gold Medal and Blitz Silver Medal in Under 12 Girls Category.
These medal winners were coached by Mr. Rama Raju. APCA congratulates the medal winners.
AP Bags 4 Medals in National Schools Chess Championship 2014 at New Delhi
Andhra Pradesh State bags 4 Medals in National Schools Chess Championship - 2014, organized by all India Chess Federation at New Delhi from 11th to 16th June, 2014. The upcoming young players of AP bagged 2 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals as follows:
Sai Pranav won Bronze Medal in the 28th National Under 9 Chess Championship 2014
Sai Pranav Siddamshetty of Hyderabad won the 3rd place in the open category of the 28th National Under-9 Chess Championship held at Arumuga Thirumananilayam, Muthialpet, Puducherry from 19th to 28th May, 2014. Sai Pranav scored 9 points from 11 rounds and gained 100 Elo rating points in this event.
Sai Pranav is trained under the guidance of A S M S S Avadhanulu.

Grahesh Wins AP State Sub Junior Chess 2014 Boys Category, Toshali is Girls Champ
Y. Grahesh of East Godavari District won the AP State Sub Junior Chess Championship 2014 held at Alluri Sita Rama Raju Public School, Araku Valley, Vizag District from 12th to 14th May, 2014. This event is organized by All Vizag District Chess Association (AVDCA) under the auspices of Andhra Pradesh Chess Association (APCA).
In the final round Grahesh defeated Viswanath Vivek to claim the title in boys event. Grahesh scored 6 points from 7 rounds. E Arujun of Warangal District who also scored same points, but with lesser tie break points, Arjun stood runner up. M Y Aditya (Vizag District) and G Rajendra of Guntur Dist are placed 3rd and 4th respectively with 5.5 points each.
In girls event final round V. Toshali (Vizag District) scored 5.5 points out of 6 rounds by defeating B Mounika Akshaya (Guntur Dist) to become champion. Sabbi Sri Rohitha of Hyderabad District placed runner up with 5 points. 3rd placed B Kalyani (Vizag Dist), 4th placed M Manisha Chowadary (Ranga Reddy Dist) scored 4.5 points each.
These eight players (4 Boys & 4 Girls) will represent the state in forthcoming National Sub Junior Chess Championship 2014 scheduled in the month of August in Kerala State.
During the closing ceremony, secretary of All Vizag District Chess Association (AVDCA) Mr. P.V. Vijay Baskar Kumar on behalf of AVDCA, has felicitated the Chief Guest Dr. K. Kanna Reddy, Gen. Secretary, APCA, who got a Doctorate in Chess Psychology recently. Mr. P.V.S.N.R. Varma, Principal – Alluri Sita Rama Raju Public School, Araku Valley presided over the function. Mr. P.V. Vijaya Bhaskar Kumar, Secretary, AVDCA and Mr. K. Srinivasa Raju, Organizing Secretary of the event also graced the occasion.

Under-9 Chess Champs Nikhil and Vyshnavi; Kranthi Kumar Wins State Challengers
Kalur Nikhil of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Begumpet, Hyderabad won the AP State U9 Boys Chess Championship 2014 and Chinnam Vyshnavi of Guntur won U9 Girls Chess Championship 2014.
U9 Chess Top 5 Boys: 1. Kalur Nikhil, 2. M Sreeshwan, 3. R Venkata Rahunadhan, 4. Ch Karthik Sai and 5. D Chaitanya Sai.
U9 Chess Top 5 Girls: 1. Chinnam Vyshnavi, 2. Kagita Jahnavi, 3. Natura Bethi, 4. D Ananya and 5. JLM Sruthiveni.
P Kranthi Kumar of V J I T College won the A P State Chess Challengers, organised by Hyderabad & R R Dist Chess Associations held from 2nd to 4th May, 2014 at A V College, Domalguda, Hyderabad.

APCA General Secretary K. Kanna Reddy has been awarded a doctorate!
Mr. K. Kanna Reddy, Lecturer in Physical Education, A V College, Domalguda has been awarded a doctorate degree in Physical Education, from Osmania University under the guidance of Prof. K. Surender Reddy on the topic - An Exploratory Study on the level of confidence and mental process of chess players and non chess players.
He belongs to Nagireddy Gudam Village in Nalgonda District. He is Chess FIDE Arbiter and Coach. At present the Secretary of AP Chess Association. He organized a number of international and national tournaments in AP.
Basically, he is a Footballer and University Boxing team captain. He studied intermediate in Govt. Jr. College Miryalaguda, Nlg. Degree in Govt. City College Hyd. P.G. from Arts College O.U. B.P.Ed. from Govt. College of Physical Education Domalaguda. M.P.Ed. from Marathwad University Maharshtra. M.Phil. from Annamalai University Chennai. Now completed Ph.D. from Osmania University. APCA congratulates on attaining his Doctoral Degree!.
AP State Chess Championship/Selection Tournaments 2014 Timetable

AICF: Attention Arbiters and Organisers - All the arbiters officiating in FIDE rated chess tournaments, National Championships and International tournaments are instructed to fulfill the following data for unrated players compulsorily in the pairing software, approved by FIDE.
- Names of the players must be entered correctly, as per records preferably in passport. If passport is not available, their names according to the other authenticated document shall be entered.
- Correct date of birth must be compulsorily entered, particularly for players playing in rating tournaments for the first time. If date of birth is not entered for these players, new FIDE ID cannot be generated and the tournament will not be accepted by FIDE for rating without the FIDE ID.
- Arbiters are responsible for omission of date of birth on new unrated players in tournament data.
- A new unrated player (without FIDE ID) should not be entered in the tournament without the date of birth.
- AICF will not accept any tournament data from the organizers, if it has any new unrated player without data of birth.
Chess Clocks for the FIDE rated events. As per FIDE instruction the following direction should be followed for all the FIDE events.
- All the boards should be provided with the chess clocks. Otherwise the tournament will not be rated. Even after it is rated and subsequently if it is found that the players are played without clocks, the FIDE will cancel the rating and a penalty also will be imposed.
Please be guided accordingly.

FIVE-TIME World Champion Viswanathan Anand honoured by APCA along with AICF and various state associations at AICF Annual General Body Meeting, Comfort Inn, Marina Towers, Egmore, Chennai on Sunday, 3rd June, 2012. Among the dignitaries Major K. A. Shiva Prasad, Vice President, APCA and K. Kanna Reddy, General Secretary, APCA celebrated victory of universal icon Vishy Anand.
